My Black Friday 4 Box Break. MOJO!

Hello All! Cam here with some boxes I broke that I got off the amazing Dave and Adams Card World when they had Black Friday deals. I had recently gotten some money, and decided it was going towards some boxes. After hours of searching the web, I decided the money would have to towards something with a guarentee of something good. I went with a retail box of 2010 Topps National Chicle because it is my favorite set of the year and I got a guarentee of one autograph and one memorabilia. Next, I went with two boxes of 2007 SP Rookie Edition Hobby because I got the promise of two autographs per box. Finally, I only had five dollars left. It was burning a hole in my pocket. I decided on one of the best deals on the site, a 2008 Upper Deck Icons football Retail Box for five bucks! I waited painfully everyday for my boxes to arrive. Today, they came. I spent the most amazing hour of my life busting open these beauties. How some of you other bloggers go weeks or even months with these boxes sitting unopened in your house, I have no idea. Maybe I just lack patience. Anyway, on to the first box!

2008 Upper Deck Icons Football Retail Box
Base Design: I like the placement of the name, position, team, and team logo. I don't like the fact that every card is exactly the same except for the player and pictures. I give the design a solid B.

Hits: I wasn't guarenteed anything in this box, so I was happy to pull these. They are an Icons NFL Rookies insert of Cory Boyd (BUCCANEERS) /999. Another is a diecut of Albert Haynesworth(TITANS) /75. The Final hit is a Future Star Materials GU of Felix Jones (COWBOYS) Being as I wasn't sure of getting anything in the box, I'm super happy. I give this box a fantastic A+ for hits.
Price: It was five dollars. Enough said. A+
Now onto the next box.
2010 Topps National Chicle Baseball Retail Box
Base Design: I already stated this is my favorite set of the year. Nonglossy cards are hated by me.

NOT!!!!!!!

Haha. I love nonglossy sets. This my favorite because of the colors and the fact that they are paintings instead of photos. That's why I like it more than A&G. The one thing that I don't like is that there are SP"s. I won't show scans because you guys already know what it looks like. A

Hits: I was happy with these, Although they could have been a little better. They are a Topps Umbrella back insert of Kenshin Kawakami(BRAVES) 11/25, An autograph of Koji Uehara (ORIOLES) and a Chicle Back Relic Parallel of World Series Champion Pablo Sandoval (GIANTS) 11/199 Isn't it weird that the two numbered cards are the 11th one made? Anyway, I'm happy with them for the price. A-

And Finally... 2 Hobby Boxes of 2007 SP Rookie Edition
Base Design: For some unknown reason, I love it. Good job. B+

Hits: A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look what I pulled! An auto of my second favorite player Michael Bourn! The Other autos are of Joe Smith (Mets), Gustavo Molina (White Sox), and Brian Barden (D-Backs)
Woot!
Price: A++++++++ 30 Dollars for an amazing auto and doubles of rookies like Lincecum, Braun, and Pence!

Who doesnt love Black Friday?

I mostly stuck to blasters and packs when it came to cards, but now Ive decided on something new. A year or so back, I opened a box of 2008 UD X. The results werent fantastic, but I still loved the rush, waiting for the hits to appear in my hands. After I opened that box, (The Hits were autos of Callix Crabbe and Jesse Carlson) I decided to go back for more. I was on a low budget, so I decided to try another box of 2008 UD X, because I heard you could pull a Griffey auto and I wanted that card. I pulled pretty good autos for a cheap box (Josh Newman and Frank Catalanotto) but then I didn't buy another box for a while. A couple weeks ago, because I got a good report card, my Grandparents bought me a box of my favorite set ever. 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces. I was freaking out. I busted it open and was so happy with what I got. I pulled a GU of Pedro Martinez and an auto of Xavier Nady. I was already happy, and wasnt expecting anything else. Then, in the last pack, put between two little base cards of ichiro and Felix Hernandez, was a Blue parallel of Ryne Sandberg 8/50. I was so insanely happy. I couldnt wait to get another box. Then Black Friday came around. I went of Dave and Adams with a budget of 70 dollars, looking to get 1 good box. Black Friday deals are amazing on that site! For 70 dollars, I got...
Retail Box of 2010 Topps National Chicle baseball, with 1 auto and 1 relic per box.
2 Hobby Boxes of 2007 SP Rookie Edition baseball, with 2 autographs per box
Retail Box of 2008 Upper Deck Icons football.
This stuff is supposed to come in the mail Monday or Tuesday. Also, If you need help with any of the sets I mentioned on here, email me! All the hits I mentioned from the other boxes are also for trade!

Why?

The end of the baseball season has hit me full-on now. The loneliness of my tv screen, without baseball on, is huge. Hockey is on. It's great, but it isn't the same. I might be going to Spring Training again this year, but that's 5 months away. Someone kill the pain and make me a trade offer I can't refuse. I'm desperate. Or talk to me about baseball. Or anything. I'm lonely without America's Pastime. I've turned to gaming on Xbox Live all day. Help me.

Please.

Back here at Collectable Cards with a Random Card of the Day post starring.......

Lou Brock!
Name: Lou Brock
Year: 2010
Set: Topps Update
Insert?: Yes (Cards your Mom Threw Out)
Number: CMT 127
About : Sadly it isn't an Original. I would have a heart attack if I actually had one of these. I always love a card of a HOF'er, and this one is ok. I'm definately not looking forward to 2011 Topps Heritage though. This is a terrible design for a Topps set, the worst ever in my opinion. One thing I never look forward to is a baseball card with a primary color of Brown.
For Trade?: Yes.

I got a Pence card I needed, a BJ Upton game used, some random Astros, random 1961 and 1970 vintage, and a trade bait card for whoever likes Pujols. (2010 Topps Finest Blue Refractor of Pujols /299 if anyone wants to trade).

I'm going to try to get back into daily posts. I really thought my blog was a goner. I had no idea what to write about. While I was gone...
The Astros didn't make the playoffs
Strasburg needs surgery
I dropped an old collection and added a new one
I pulled a Heyward 2007 Tristar true RC (To me thats awesome)
Pulled a couple new GU
My Pence collection reached 75 cards
I got a sick dual Markakis/Guerrero GU in a trade
Did about a million trades on SCF
Still don't have a scanner
Saw a couple concerts
AND much more coming up in future posts!
Now for my questions:
I really haven't had much to write about (Which is why I haven't been on here) Soooo can you guys think of any continuing segments on my blog or other things to do that you might like?? I really hope to get my blog to be one of the most popular on the web (up there with the great Drew's Cards, The Sandlot, A Cardboard Problem, GSNHOF, BA Benny's Baseball Card Buffet, Hey! That's Mine!) Soo what do you think I can do? My other question is...
I have a budget of about 100 bucks to buy a nice hobby box. I don't care about year, product, or anything really. I love things that guarentee GU and Autos in every box. What do you guys think I should get? I was thinking something along the lines of UD Masterpieces, Topps Heritage, Topps Allen and Ginter, etc, but I have an open mind. Let me know what you guys think !!!

Cam

Moments and Milestones- The biggest pain for a player collector ever.

If you're like me, you collect one certain player in particular. If you're like me, you also despise Topps Moments and Milestones. Moments and Milestones has a numbered card for each hit, or each strikeout, or some notable stat for good players. These cards are then numbered to 150, 25, 10, and 1. M&M makes collecting Hunter Pence a huge pain. If I want every card of him, I'm going to need the cards for each hit he got, each numbered to 150 or less. Hunter has over 300 cards JUST FOR THIS SET! I have 1 CARD FROM THIS SET. In conclusion, if you collect a player that is in the M&M checklist, forget the hope of finishing your collection.
